INFR 4365U – Themed Entertainment Design


Gain the skills to create immersive environments that transform narratives into tangible experiences. In this course, students delve into crafting interactive spaces from theme parks and zoos to museums and trade shows. You will investigate the creative techniques, workflows, and principles for designing themed settings such as theme parks, zoos, aquariums, themed retail and dining spaces, museums, virtual realms, and exhibits. Students will gain hands-on experience in shaping interactive spaces within story-driven environments from simple kiosks to multi-layered theme parks while examining the interplay between narrative, design, production, technological limitations, and emerging innovations.

Laboratory hours: 1.5
Prerequisite(s): Third- or fourth-year standing in Game Development and Interactive Media  or Communication and Digital Media Studies  or Computer Science – Digital Media specialization
