BUSI 3470U – Wealth Management Principles The course of wealth management principles is designed to challenge the status quo by promoting personal financial planning as a profession. Thus, its learning objectives and contents are aligned with the requirement and learning objectives of Certified Financial Planner (CFP) or Qualified Associate Financial Planner (QAFP) certifications as it is designed to close learning gaps while providing additional required technical education (core or advanced) to our finance and accounting students to advance confidently towards CFP or QAFP requirements. More importantly, the course gives careful attention to professional ethics and the many behavioral factors that drive client decisions, even in complex scenarios.
The course will build on students’ prior knowledge (i.e., prerequisites) and provide new technical knowledge—the foundational elements of a competency that include the behaviors and required knowledge that support achievement of the financial planning tasks.
Note: CFP certification is the most widely recognized financial planning designation in Canada and throughout the world and is considered the ‘gold standard’ for the profession. QAFP certification is a great way for students to start their career in financial planning and/or wealth management. QAFP professionals are ideally suited to help clients who want to improve their financial well-being.
