CRMN 3050U – Police and Society This course examines the contemporary shifts in the institutions, strategies and practices of policing in North America and other parts of the world. The culture of policing is viewed theoretically and practically in relation to their broader social, political and economic context with particular emphasis placed on how these developments have been understood and explained by various scholars. The future challenges and prospects for policing, as well as the implications for democratic values such as justice, equality and civil liberty, are considered.
